Lots of updates

We've been working like a bunch of crazies around here. We are trying to get ready for 1.) The return to school. 2.) Blake's family coming down this weekend 3.) The baby.
We've been moving stuff around so we can use the bedrooms again. They've been used as storage up until now. We also are finally laying tile in the bathroom. Whew! Here are some pictures of our updates.

Bathroom Tile

New Fish in the fish tank. We purchased two Angel Fish and some neons!

The last one is just for fun. Our lovable, but not-so-bright cat loves to play with his puff ball. I mean LOVES his puff. He rolls on it, carries it around and even sleeps with it. My favorite thing he does is just "hang out" with it in his mouth. Enjoy.

Sad day at the garden

Sigh. Remember that amazing zucchini shot? It came from the most massive zucchini plant I've ever seen. In fact everything in our garden is massive. MASSIVE! The squash is the size of a Cooper Mini, the tomatoes have completely outgrown their cages, the canteloupe I have to whack back so it doesn't choke everything else in the garden...you get the idea. That, my friend, is why it is with ultimate saddness that I have to report the death of "Seymor", our giant Zucchini plant. It rotted at the base. I went out to check on it when we got back from MN and it was not only dead, but destroyed. Wilted, brown, spread out like Aragog in the latest Harry Potter movie. Sad. I actually let a little scream escape when I saw it.
I don't have a picture, but you can imagine. RIP Seymor.

25 weeks

oh my...let the games begin. It's real now. He's an inch below my belly skin. That's all, he's right here!! He's kicking more now. I still am not feeling all of his movements. The doctor listened to his heart and heard about 5 movements that I couldn't feel. Side note: if you're easily offended, don't read this next section.
My boobs now sit on my belly. That's new for someone who was barely a B cup before she got pregnant. Though I've enjoyed the temporary increase, I can't wait for them to go back to normal...oh well, I think that won't be for a while.

Garden update

I posted several months ago that our poor garden was washed away in a downpour. That was true, however we had a couple of key plants survive. A zucchini, a yellow squash, some sweet basil and two eggplants. To that we added some cherry tomato plants, cauliflower and a canteloupe plant. Then, every time Blake mows, he bags the clippings and tosses them on the garden. It is now an amazing sight! We just picked our first fruit (A MASSIVE zucchini) with two more ready to pick on Sunday.

The tomatoes are huge and green, the canteloupe has about 20 blooms on it (canteloupe anyone??) and we have more sweet basil than we know what to do with. If we're coming to see you any time soon and you want any of the following please speak up: Tomatoes, canteloupe, chives, mint, basil and perhaps zucchini and squash.


















PS-We've done this garden completely organic. We read a book my dad had about only using mulch to make and amazing garden (it traps moisture and you never have to water. ever. It works.) but we had a problem with bugs and worms. I was ready to go buy pesticide, but Blake said "let's see what the extension office has to say about this." He's so smart. He found a bunch of stuff from K-State about preditory bugs and how to attract them. It involves blooming flowers and clover. After purchasing some marigolds, button flowers and a butterfly bush, and the tons and tons of clover that grows freely in our yard our bug problem is all but behind us. I'm not kidding. Butterflies, lady bugs and spiders have taken care of the bugs.

Painting update!

This is a depiction of what the room will look like. This is my "photoshopped" version of the light and ceiling. The ceiling is finished and only the light is photoshopped in. The blue tape will come down too. Thanks Ann for all of your hard work!
