Little Emery learns to fly...and laugh...and rollover

Ok, so I'm finding it harder to update after the baby is born than before. Shocker, I know. I will update with videos of Emery rolling over, laughing and flying with daddy. In other news,

Emery has a new 2nd cousin, Julia Beatrice Peterson born yesterday. Her mother and I have become friends over Facebook. Her daddy is Blake's cousin. She was named after Grandma Peterson, whom was Blake's grandmother also. Very sweet! I now have two 2nd cousins named Julia.

5 months

Here is an update. Sorry it's been sooo long. I have no excuse. We took Emery to see G'pa and G'ma for Easter. It was fun. Here's dad holding Emery in his favorite chair. Emery talked and cooed all weekend long. It was so cute. Blake and Wesley had fun with the bunny ears.

Emery's newest trick: rolling over. Here he is in mid roll. He's so strong. He can stand on his legs with support for stability for a full minute now. He loves it!

Two weekends ago Emery was baptised at church. He was so good. He listened and stared at the pastor like he was really listening. What a charmer. Not Blake or my best picture, but little man is as cute as ever.

4 Months

He talks all the time. He started giggling too. It's too precious.

Monkey nose, Monkey toes. This is the little game he and daddy play every night before jammies time.

In other news, we beat the ear infection but are still left with a chest cough and nasal congestion. We took him back to the doctor to make sure it wasn't anything worse. They did an oxygen test on him and he was getting 90% oxygen so it's not affecting his air intake. We have to suction out his nose several times a day and spray his nose with nasal saline. It's no fun for anyone but it helps him. I'll be SOOOO glad when he beats this cold. Poor Monkey.

I'm also getting things ready for his baptism in a few weeks. I've got the menu all planned out. We'll be having breakfast casserole, mac and cheese, spinach salad, croissants, fresh fruit and yogurt parfaits. I can't wait! I'm also so excited to see everyone!

things-I-wish-I-had-known-but-didn't

It seems like every woman I know right now is having a baby. Or, just had a baby. That may be a little bit of an exaggeration, but not by much. I can think of 11 of my friends that are having babies. So, this blog is for you ladies. I'm sure you can add to the list, but here are my top things-I-wish-I-had-known-but-didn't items:

Pampers Swaddlers. Best diapers ever. I love them. Costco doesn't sell them. Don't get a Costco membership just for diapers until you know which diapers you love. I order these off Amazon.com now. Thanks for nothing Costco. I still love your food though.

The woombie.

I think our Kiddapotamus swaddle is great, but my doctor said her daughter kept working her arms free in hers so they switched to the Woombie and never had another problem. Emery started working his arms free and I wish I would have switched to this kind, but didn't. Now he's too big to be swaddled. Brute of a kid.

Love. I totally love this little guy. I'm not kidding. I mean I love Blake and I love my family and I love mint chocolate chip ice cream but nothing, NOTHING tops this kid. I think he is the cutest, smartest, most lovable kid on the planet and I don't mind saying so. I get it now. I get why parents will do anything for their kids. anything. I also love that he looks like his daddy. For some reason, I get more enjoyment out of seeing Blake in him than looking for the bits of me he has.
